This invited talk was delivered as part of Dr. Georges Benjamin’s visit to Arizona State University, bringing together the ASU Health community for discussions on public health, health equity, and innovation. Shovito presented research from the Embedded Machine Intelligence Lab (EMIL) on wearable AI systems for health promotion and disease management. The talk highlighted a self-supervised learning approach for detecting Freezing of Gait (FoG) in Parkinson’s disease using wearable sensor data, along with ongoing work in metabolic health, including AI-driven analysis of continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) data and clinical decision support systems such as GlucoGuide. Additionally, he introduced research on heat-related health monitoring (HeatMind) and wearable sensing for hydration assessment, and shared insights from the Biomedical Informatics & Data Science (BIDS) program and research training at ASU.
