Welcome to CalmiFy! This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and protect your data when you use our app for stress and alcohol-craving research studies.
CalmiFy - Stress User Study is a user study approved by the Washington State University IRB (WSU IRB #20612) and the data are collected from participants who have voluntarily consented to participate in the study.

CalmiFy is a research-focused app designed to support scientific studies on stress patterns and coping mechanisms. We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring the confidentiality of the data you provide.

2. Information We Collect

• Identifier:
  • CalmiFy does not collect identifying information such as your name, email, or phone number.
  • CalmiFy collects a User ID randomly assigned to you by the research team. The User ID can be linked to your contact information only by the designated members of the research team to facilitate the user study.
• Health and Fitness Data:
  • CalmiFy collects emotional states, stress levels, alcohol cravings, sleep quality, stress-related experiences, and coping mechanisms in the manner you report in our survey questionnaire.
• Usage Data:
  • Time and frequency of survey completion.
• Other User Content:
  • CalmiFy collects open-text responses for a few of the survey questions regarding how you may cope with stress.

3. How We Use Your Data

• Analyzing stress patterns and coping strategies.
• Identifying relationships between emotional states, stress triggers, and alcohol cravings.
• Supporting scientific publications and reports in an anonymized form.
• We do not track you based on the data collected.

5. Data Retention

Identifiable data that links data collected from the CalmiFy study with participants’ contact information will be securely retained by the research team for 3 years and then destroyed using sanitation methods to the level of cleaning per National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) 800-88SP.

• Secure servers are used to store all collected data with two-level password protection against non-project personnel.
• Access to your data is limited to authorized researchers directly involved in the study.

7. Your Rights

• Withdrawal: You may opt out of the study at any time by contacting the research team. Your future data collection will cease, and previously collected data may remain in anonymized datasets. Please contact your research coordinator in this regard.

8. Cookies and Tracking

CalmiFy does not use cookies or any other tracking technologies.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If significant changes are made, you will be notified via the app or the research team.
